The National Association of Home Builders has begun a program dedicated to certifying specialists in
Aging in Place. What does that mean? Imagine that you are fifty-three and are looking at your retirement years.
Imagine that you are also planning to do a remodel of your home. You have a good level of foresight and plan on staying in your home for the remainder of your days. How do you prepare your home so you don't have to extensively remodel it when you get older, ill or become infirm? How do you design it so that you
can stay in your home? That's what this section of the National Association of Home Builders deals with. It certifies builders as specialists in
Aging in Place. They tell you what changes you can do to make your home safer now and make preparations for later -- while you're doing your present remodel. Then, when necessary, you can make minimal changes later as needed.
So, if you're preparing to do a remodel, or you plan to build a new home that you hope to live in until you're old, check this site out! To learn more about the program and about the need to plan appropriately while you are remodeling now,
