Barb and Mike Davis, ElderHope co-founders, will be speaking at a free seminar at First Baptist Church in Garland, TX.

During the seminar Barb and Mike will be covering information on symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), diagnosis, the stages of the disease, arranging for care, treatment, and the ongoing research into AD. The seminar will be held in the Macdonald Activity Center, Room 283 at the First Baptist Church in Garland. It will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 9:30am-1:30pm. To reserve a place, please call Trisha Beavers at First Baptist Church of Garland at 972-276-7194 x239.

Barb Davis, MA, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a research coordinator at The University of Texas at Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW). She is the UTSW Research Coordinator for the largest ongoing genetics study to be done on Alzheimer's Disease. It is hoped that through this study gains will be made in predicting who is more likely to get AD. She is also actively involved in a study to examine the effects of higher dosages of Aricept in persons with moderate to severe AD. She is very familiar with struggles of caring for the AD patient.

Mike has worked as a hospice chaplain for eleven years. He is currently chaplain at Baylor Hamilton Heart and Vascular Hospital. He has seen the suffering of patient and family as they deal with the latter stages of illness, including the wide swing of emotions that can attend the process.
