The death of Tim Russert was a stunning loss. He was wise, able to navigate difficult political terrain with adroitness, and he understood much about life. So, his death was a surprising and sad invasion of a day at work.

In Memory: Kyle Franklin Davis

This past Tuesday, April 29, 2008, my father, Kyle Franklin Davis died in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While he had been struggling with health issues for the last several years, the severity of this last illness was more than his body could take. Fortunately, his recent illness was not prolonged. We will publish more later. Suffice it to say that he was surrounded by family and friends until the time of his death. He was richly loved and is already deeply missed. UPDATED: To read my part of his eulogy, please see the file attached after the article...

ElderHope Offers New Benefit for Members - Soundscapes

A few years ago, my son gave me a sound generator for my birthday (he's a pretty cool kid - knows the stuff his dad likes). Now, in case you're in the dark about what a sound generator is, it's a device where you can set it to play sounds from the ocean, thunderstorms, streams, and other soothing sounds.

A Professor Gives His Last Lecture

If, like me, you have limited knowledge of your surroundings, perhaps you also have missed this story, the story of a Professor Randy Pausch at Carnegie Mellon University. He found out that he was dying of pancreatic cancer. In October 2007, her gave a final lecture to his students. A short time later, after more than a million viewers had seen tapes of his final lecture, he was featured on Oprah.

Surf the Web Safely, Lose your Browser

Recently, we upgraded the ElderHope main page. I was so excited about it because it is more visually appealing, but also easier to read. So, I was surprised when ElderHope's best half, Barb, told me that her work computer had problems displaying ElderHope. The culprit, it seems, is the old, standard non-compliant browser she has at her workplace.
