Medical Issues : Imported Canadian Drugs Safe?

Before you jump on the bandwagon of buying your medications from Canada, it might be wise to visit the web site of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.

In our perusal of the site, we found substantial evidence that there should be significant cause for concern that pharmacies importing drugs into the US are doing so illegally, and are shipping items that do not have the potency they are supposed to (in some cases markedly overshooting the potency they were supposed to have) or are counterfeit.

As one example, note this survey of some popular generics that were imported into the US as stand-ins for their proprietary counterpart. One of the generic Ambien replacements had a potency of 171% of the approved drug Ambien.

It is always a good idea to take some ownership of your health care. Just make sure that you own the vehicle you think you do...
